I am encouraged to know that when life is shaking, God is unshakable. He is faithful and true, a refuge. The psalmist proclaims God as a refuge some 45 times. How awesome to know that he is not only a refuge, but a comforter. Not only can I find protection but healing for my soul. My heart and life are safe in his hands.
“7 On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. 8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.” –Psalm 62:7–8 (ESV)
Life’s tremors and earthquakes are opportunities to proclaim the greatness of an unshakable God. Though it may be difficult to walk, he promises to guide and that he will never leave me, even when going through death’s valley. His grace is sufficient and this too will work out for my good. God, my eyes are on you.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (ESV)
“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.” Psalm 57:1 (ESV)
“But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.” Psalm 59:16 (ESV)
“But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.” Psalm 73:28 (ESV)
“He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4 (ESV)
